Many things in life require patience, and building a home is definitely one of these. It’s exciting to figure out plans, find a builder, and finally get started on your house. Unfortunately, building a house is not something that happens over night. No matter how much you want it to be done, it takes time.
There are, however, things you can do to help the whole process go faster. Taking the time to make sure you have a good, detailed, set of plans is something we’ve talked about. If you don’t make a lot of changes to your plans once they’re done, the subs can come in, follow the plans, and be done quickly. When a lot of changes are made the subs have a lot of questions, and this slows things down.
Keeping up on selections is another thing you can do to keep things running smoothly. At Jorgenson Builders we use software called “Co-Construct” to communicate with our customers. Our customers get a login specific to their job. This is where we post the schedule, the budget, and a list of things we need selected and the date they need to be selected by. If you don’t make your selections on time we can’t order the materials soon enough. The lead time for some materials can cause your job to sit while we wait for them to arrive.
Weather is something that impacts your job that, unfortunately, none of us can control. This definitely requires patience. If you’re building through the winter, there may be times that we can’t work on your house due to the weather. These times are rare, but they do happen. We do our best to keep things moving regardless of the weather, but sometimes Mother Nature wins out.
At Jorgenson Builders we excel at scheduling our houses and getting them done quickly, but also with the quality we require. That said, building a house still takes time, and patience. But we guarantee that the finished product will be worth the wait!
