We all know that building a house takes time. Then your builder tells you when it looks like you’ll be done and you’re so excited. Finally, time to enjoy your new house! The date gets closer and you start to get a little nervous. There’s still a lot to be done. It seems like there’s no way everything will be done when your builder’s telling you.
I’m still amazed at how many things get done in a short amount of time at the end of a house. It almost seems like magic the way it all comes together. We frequently have customers who start to get worried it will all get done. We start to get emails with lists of things they’re sure we’re forgetting. Then, rather than spending time on their house, we have to take time to respond to their long lists.
At Jorgenson Builders we always do a final walkthrough with our customers. At that walkthrough we make a list of anything else that needs to be done. Usually this is done after the final inspection and the list is fairly small. So if you’re building a house, don’t worry that it’s not all going to come together in time. It will. Wait to go through everything until your house is truly done. Most likely a lot of things that were on your list will be crossed off by then. The last couple weeks of a job are always really busy for us trying to coordinate everything that needs to be done. But we promise it will all get taken care of and soon you’ll be living in your nice, new house!
